Recently I have a simple realization that we can perform better when we feel relaxed and positive rather than the situation when we feel, we are being judged by others. A common example almost applicable for all, we can sing in bathroom but we can’t sing a song in before public.
Why it happens? Answer is simple, as we feel we are going to be judged and our brain started processing fear. There’s something about doing things in front of others that triggers a warning signal in our brains: potential (negative) judgments from people.
Our beautiful brain controls all of our actions and behaviors that I shard in another article. The frontal part of our brain controls the fear and anxiety.
I used to feel ‘’ what are people going to say?’’ almost in all the cases. I am overcoming this mindset. several factors which help me: Deep Sleep, Brain Foods and Inactiveing my Inner critic. Fear of judgment hold us back getting something done that we really passionate about. We used to think ‘What are people going to say?
2 Things to Remember:
- We have absolutely zero control on what others are thinking about us
- We have full control on what we can create and share with others
Every time we start doing something new publicly, we experience a lot of criticism and feedback from many people. We can categorize these types of criticism into two groups:
1. People who really care about your improvement 💗
2. People who don’t care about you and your work at all 🖤
Famous author Austin Kleon said the first step in evaluating feedback is sizing up who it came from. We should accept criticism from the group -1 those who really care about us and our work.
And the group-2 is being called the ”Troll group” not interested in improving your work rather only provoking with hateful, aggressive or upsetting talk. We don’t gain nothing engaging with them. Don’t feed them and they will usually go away.
👉 Summary: So, you should only accept criticism from the people who care about you and keep the other people outside of the circle.
